learning to listen

Today I am learning to listen.  I know I say frequently that I am busy. That comes and goes, right now I am teaching yoga 6 days a week so BUSY may not describe it enough.  Don’t get me wrong, I am so thankful.  This girl’s dreams are coming true!  I am reaching lots of folks who may have not thought yoga was for them or even possible.  Every day folks are learning that it can be for anyone. 

What I am learning is to listen to is MY body, the tiny voice that says OK Sarah…take a breath…you’re tired. Rest a bit. I usually visit a dear friend on Thursday afternoon.  Today she needed to rest and guess what?  So do I.  Would I have gone this afternoon, of course….would I have been OK?  of course….would I have been at full strength when I go to teach my class tonight?  maybe not.  Sometimes the universe gives you what you need.  So now I am taking care of some quiet tasks around the house and taking an afternoon break. 

We all need to learn to listen to that tiny voice, it knows what is best for us.  It is my nature to push ahead, check things off the list of tasks and feel like I accomplished something.  This afternoon I am going to accomplish taking care of me.

Resolving to practice moderation, I gently learn to let go of extremes.  Moderation is the only way to find true balance and the best way to live fully and with mindful awareness.
